External sensor Your speed sensor is located on the rear frame or in the area of ​​the thru-axle. The magnet is attached to the spoke or brake disc.
Internal sensor Your speed sensor is built into the engine. The magnet sits as a block on the valve of the rear wheel or in the rim.

How do I know what I have?

The speed sensor on the e-bike measures how fast the rear wheel is rotating and sends this data to the motor. It reacts to the magnetic field of a permanent magnet attached to the rear wheel. This is where the tuning products come in.

There are 2 different, relevant systems:

  • Internal speed sensor

The magnet is attached to the spoke.

The magnet is attached to the brake disc so that it rotates with it.

If no cable is plugged into the speed sensor port, you have an internal sensor. If the valve solenoid is not visible on the valve, it is located under the tire on the rim!

(WARNING: There might also be a built-in light plugged into the port!)

• From approximately model year 2024 onwards, the internal sensor solution was widely adopted for the Smart System.
