🔎 How do I know what I have?
Not every Gen4 Bosch system is a Smart System.
Example:
-
Bosch eBike Systems Performance Line CX Gen4 is available:
-
as an old system (not Smart)
-
as a Smart System variant
-
Visually, the engines look very similar in some respects.
✅ 1️⃣ Identify it at the charging port (see above)
Smart System uses:
-
new, square charging port
-
mostly 750Wh PowerTube with new connector shape
Non-Smart:
-
older, rounder charging port
-
400Wh / 500Wh / 625Wh PowerTube (old design)
✅ 2️⃣ Recognize on the display
Smart System Displays:
-
Kiox 300, 500
-
Purion 200, 400
-
Intuvia 100
-
LED Remote (separate control unit)
Non-Smart Displays:
-
Kiox (first version, with Micro-USB)
-
Intuvia (classic, large central display)
-
Purion (old version)
-
Nyon (old version)
✅ 3️⃣ The App
📱 When your bike connects to:
Bosch eBike Flow App
→ ✅ Then you have a Smart System
If your bike is only compatible with:
Bosch eBike Connect App
functions
→ ❌ Then it's not a smart system
✅ 4️⃣ The battery says “Smart System”
Newer models often state directly:
"The Smart System"
on battery or frame sticker.
✅ 5️⃣ Update option
Can you perform software updates yourself via your smartphone?
→ Yes = Smart System
→ Dealers only = Non-Smart
✅ 6️⃣ Model year (rough guide only)
-
The Smart System became widespread from approximately the 2022/2023 model year onwards.
-
2020–2021 → mostly no smart system
But beware: there are transitional models.
